BIOTECH NUTRITION
November 26, 2007Biotech nutrition is a concern to many people afraid that the crops produced may be harmful to the body. The food is usually not only safe but caters to allergies, prevents cancer, full of iron, and approved by the government.
Biotech nutrition is actually healthier than regular crops because they have fewer pesticides sprayed on them, which are harmful to the body. The reason they have less pesticides is that they are genetically grown and tested to keep the pests away without the need of over-spraying them with harmful chemicals.
The new technologies in the field of biotech nutrition have allowed companies growing these crops to eliminate food allergens. They have extensively tested the crops to ensure that new allergies do not arise. They have focused on eliminating the major allergens in all of the crops.
Biotech nutrition is also known to contain many of the cancer fighting nutrients like phytoestrogens, isoflavones, carotenoids, as well as many antioxidants. The levels of these cancer fighting hormones have been increased in the crops.
Many chemicals prevent a woman’s body from absorbing iron when iron is needed for many reasons, osteoporosis for one. Biotech nutrition in crops has eliminated the iron stopping chemicals and raised the level of iron in the grains in cereals and other crops.
The government has approved the growth of biotech nutrition crops and the field is regulated by three government agencies to insure that the crops are grown right.
In addition to the health benefits of crop modification, such modification is also beneficial to the farmers and the land. The fewer chemicals that are sprayed on the crops, the more crops that do not die and are not consumable. One can make better use of the land and produce more crops using the same amount of space. In addition, genetically modified food contains more nutrients and vitamins helping the body fight off unwanted illnesses and diseases.
Biotech nutrition is a safe technology that will not harm consumers. If anything, one should be thankful for the advancing technologies that are creating healthier food for everyone and using the land for cropping more wisely.
